Norwayne alumni to hold 35th reunion

Norwayne Alumni & Friends will hold its 35th reunion Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 2.
Activities will begin with a social at 7 p.m. Friday at the alumni Community Center at 106 E. Branch Street in Fremont.
On Saturday, festivities will include a parade, banquet and dance. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the M.L. King Park on Ballance Road, make its way down Main Street and wind up back at the park. The banquet at 6 p.m. and the dance at 9 will be held at the H.V. Brown Hall, Dillard Alumni Cultural Center at 801 Poplar St. in Goldsboro.
The banquet speaker will be Myra Juanita Sampson, a 1967 Norway graduate. An educator and entrepreneur, she is the founder of CCA Academy in Chicago. She received her bachelor of science degree from Bennett College and her Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. She has completed doctoral course work in educational leadership at Nova Southeastern University and is working on a dissertation.
Sunday morning worship service will be at 11 a.m. at the groups' Community Center in Fremont, with the Rev. Frances H. Rufin as speaker. The weekend will culminate in a gospelfest at 6 p.m. at St. James Disciples of Church of Christ at 514 Memorial Church Road in Fremont.
