Peele named chief of security for N.C. Division of Prisons

Goldsboro native Scott Peele has been named chief of security for the Division of Prisons of the North Carolina Department of Correction.

Peele attended Wayne Community College, studying criminal justice and business administration. He began work as a correctional officer in 1986 at Central Prison, and was later promoted to sergeant and then lieutenant. In 2004, he was made a captain in the security section and was promoted to assistant chief of security a year ago. In his new role, he will oversee the safe operation of 78 prison units.

He and his wife, Tina, a case manager at Correctional Institution, have a daughter, Megan.
