Local author to hold book signing Monday

Dr. Susan Whitfield, a first-time novelist who lives in Dudley, will be on hand to sign copies of her murder mystery novel "Genesis Beach" from 1 until 7 p.m. at Gold's Gym on Parkway Drive.
The book is set in a fictitious beach town in coastal North Carolina. The plot centers on the murder of a millionaire.
Dr. Whitfield is a retired principal from East Duplin High School. She was assistant principal at Eastern Wayne High School and taught English at Southern Wayne High School .
