Investigations

Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:

*Wayne County sheriff's deputies charged two Southern Wayne High School students for simple possession of marijuana. The charge stems from allegations in which one teen allegedly told authorities he placed marijuana in the ceiling in the boy's bathroom and told another student where to retrieve it. The other student went to the bathroom as instructed, but Deputy Zino Mitchell followed him. When Mitchell entered the bathroom, he saw one student standing by a sink and the alleged buyer pushing a ceiling tile up. At Mitchell's request, the student retrieved the package which appeared to be marijuana rolled up in a fast food wrapper. Both students were charged in the case. However, the third student was not charged, according to the report. The student who allegedly tried to give away the marijuana to another student allegedly brought two bags of marijuana from his house and gave it to the deputy, according to the report.

Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:

*Brenda Denise Lucas reported that she heard the door knob on her back door rattle in her home located in the 300 block of Fussell St. about 1 a.m. today. Ms. Lucas went to check it out and saw a black man leaving the area on foot.

*Rinika Christina McLaurin reported two men entered the Jameson Inn on S. Harding Drive at about 8 p.m. Tuesday while she was sitting at the computer. One of the men put a gun to Ms. McLaurin's head and told her she was being robbed. The other man pulled her out of her chair and took her to an office door. One of the suspects retrieved the keys by the computer, opened the door and stole money. One suspect ordered Ms. McLaurin to get a plastic bag to carry the money in. The suspects then ran through the back door with the stolen $300 cash. While departing, the men told Ms. McLaurin to call the police.
