Teen is arrested
on drug charges
A teenager was arrested before dawn today by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with felony drug offenses after an investigation of a residential break-in and theft.
Treven Ray Strickland, 17, of Saulston Road was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
The teen's father, Sherman O. Strickland, had reported the theft of $1,300, jewelry, two shotguns, a rifle and a handgun Thursday night. The property was valued at $1,835, in addition to the cash.
The son told deputies that two friends had visited him. Deputy C.T. Arnold interviewed the friends who said Treven Strickland had sold two guns to them. The weapons, a shotgun and a rifle, were recovered.
Treven Strickland then allowed Arnold to search his pickup truck, and 93.4 grams of marijuana and $520 were found.
Treven Strickland admitted that he had taken the two firearms, sold the handgun and lost the other shotgun, Arnold said. He also admitted that he had spent $680 of the stolen cash.
Sherman Strickland signed a form, declining to prosecute his son on the theft charges.
Drug charges
Two Goldsboro men have been arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with felony drug violations.
*William Jeremy Alexander, 24, of Third Street was charged today with possession of cocaine and three misdemeanors -- possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription medicine -- after a traffic stop on Herring Street. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
*Jerron Lamar Russell, 17, of Courtyard Circle was charged Thursday with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
1 hurt in wreck
One person were injured and damages were estimated at $22,100 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A passenger was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 9:41 a.m. Thursday at West Walnut and George streets, Goldsboro police said. Rufus McKinney Whitfield, 32, of N.C. 111 North was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. His eastbound driver, Richard James Lynch, 62, of Fellowship Church Road, Princeton, was charged with stop-sign and safe-movement violations. The other driver, Shirley Mae Evans, 70, of Tadlock Road, Mount Olive, was going south. Damages were set at $3,800.
*Damages were estimated at $12,500 in a two-vehicle, rear-end crash at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday on N.C. 581, south of U.S. 70, the Highway Patrol said. One northbound motorist, Mark Steven Linton, 39, of Crumpler Road, Kenly, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The other driver, Renee C. Campbell, 40, of Pinkney Road, Pikeville, had slowed for traffic.
*Damages were estimated at $5,800 in a two-vehicle wreck at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Tommy's Road, the Highway Patrol said. A westbound driver, Anetta Parker, 38, of Dosia Drive, was charged with a yield violation. The report said Ms. Parker was making a left turn and her sport utility vehicle had collided with an oncoming, eastbound motorcycle. The cyclist was Gary Ray Hardison, 23, of Brogden Road, Princeton.
Break-in charge
Giorgio Joseph Rossi, 18, of Friendswood Drive was charged by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
The break-in and theft of $1,750 worth of property from a home in Rosewood was reported.
The property included jewelry, video-game equipment, two shotguns and an electric welder. Some property had been recovered, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Video-game equipment, including 45 games, was stolen Thursday from a home in the 100 block of Ditchbank Road, deputies said. The resident, L.J. Maxwell, put a $2,100 value on the stolen property.
*Video-game equipment, a vacuum and curtains were stolen Thursday after a window was damaged in a home in the 1100 block of Parkstown Road, deputies said. The resident, J.F. Phillips, estimated the value of the stolen property at $425 and damage at $100. About $150 worth of frozen food also was damaged.
Two charges
A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with forgery and uttering.
Jamie Clark Cassady of Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, was arrested after an investigation into checks passed at the Pikeville Gas and Go store, Detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster said. The checks had been stolen Jan. 13 from a vehicle in Goldsboro, Lancaster said. Cassady was released from custody on a $1,500 unsecured bond.
DWI
Michael Lee Deutsch, 20, of Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, was charged Thursday by the Highway Patrol with driving while impaired, driving after drinking under age and felony hit and run with injury. A blood test was pending to determine his level of impairment, the citation said. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
