Officers
assaulted
Two police officers were assaulted Wednesday night during an altercation with Leodis Hamlin, 29, of Goldsboro, according to police reports.
Officers Christopher Melvin and Adam Fowler said they responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home in the 200 block of Pearson Street and found Hamlin having an argument with his parents, who are hearing impaired.
As the officers were attempting to communicate with the residents by notepad, Hamlin became agitated and slapped the notepads from both officers' hands, according to the report.
Officer Melvin attempted to place Hamlin under arrest and the suspect used a flashlight to strike the officer in the head and proceeded to punch him in the ribs and face, according to the report.
Before Hamlin could be taken into custody, he punched Fowler in the face twice, the report said.
Hamlin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, resisting a public official and injury to personal property. Hamlin's secured bond was set at $45,000.
Vehicle break-ins
Seven vehicles were broken into in the same parking lot between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
Someone broke into the vehicles in the parking lot at the 100 block of Center Street James Laws estimated damages to his vehicle at $600, including a tool box, tools and clothing. All four windows of Darla Honeyman's 1991 Ford Taurus were shattered, causing $400 in damages. Allen Lancaster said two drills, two ladders, tools and equipment were stolen from his vehicle. He estimated the value of the belongings and the broken window at $580. A compact disc and broken window in Gary Williams Toyota Camry was valued at $225. Damages were similar for Ronald Vick. According to the report, a flashlight and broken window were valued at $210. A set of golf clubs, two pairs of golf shoes, 75 CDs and umbrellas were stolen from Fred Kelly's vehicle. He estimated the loss at $2,390, including damages. Three tool boxes with tools inside, two windows and a skill saw were stolen from a Ford Escort belonging to Phyllis Powell. Her losses were estimated at $1,029.
Robbery
An unknown subject entered a home with a gun on the 1900 block of North William Street, assaulted two people and stole $400 in cash, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
The subject, a 6-feet tall black man weighing about 200 pounds, entered the residence by knocking on the door. After David Lambert, 19, of Goldsboro, opened it, the man pushed Lambert to the floor and ran to the rear bedroom where Mike Padgette, 56, and Joy Smith, 47, were sleeping.
The man dragged Padgette to the living room, punched him in the face and placed a pillow cushion over his head, the report said. He took the money and left.
The Goldsboro Police Department asks that if anyone has information leading to the apprehension of the suspect, to call 735-2255.
Missing Person
A 14-year-old girl was listed as missing by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Carolyn Eatmon left a home in the 100 block of Parkridge Drive early Sunday and has not been seen since, said her family.
Eatmon was described as 4 feet 11 inches tall with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Department.
