Robberies
A woman resident and a woman motel clerk were robbed over the weekend by armed men, according to Goldsboro police reports.
Shelly Janae Flanagan, 26, told officers that three men, dressed in black, entered through an unlocked back door in her home in the 900 block of West Oak Street at about 2 p.m. Sunday. The report said the intruders forced her to the floor, then disconnected the phone line and searched her belongings.
The robbers stole a gold charm bracelet, a camcorder, a video-game controller, a cell phone and miscellaneous small items, the report said. The property was valued at $1,923.
The suspects were described as being about 20 years old with thin builds, and they wore black skull caps, black jackets and black shoes.
Passion Kadija Ross, 21, of LaGrange reported that two black men entered the Comfort Inn and Suites at 1613 North Park Drive at 8:09 p.m. Saturday and displayed handguns.
The report said one suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed money from the cash drawer. The suspects fled in an older car. The robbers were described only as being about 20 years old.
7 hurt in wrecks
Seven people were injured and damages were estimated at $36,900 in five recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A man on a scooter was injured in a collision with a sport utility vehicle at 2:26 p.m. Saturday on North Spence Avenue near Royall Avenue, Goldsboro police said. Richard Brian Doverspike, 44, of Gable Drive, Dudley, was treated, admitted and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. He was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said Doverspike was crossing North Spence Avenue and his scooter collided with the southbound SUV that was driven by Kanem Dante Dupree, 30, of Duck Ridge Drive, Pikeville. Damages were set at $400.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $13,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 9:06 p.m. Friday at East Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway and Oak Forest Road, police said. One westbound driver, Christopher Edward Morrison, 18, of New Bern, and a passenger, Jonathan Plouffe, 16, of Havelock, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Morrison was charged with failure to reduce speed and following too closely after the rear-end crash. The other driver was identified as Phillip Daniel McQuirk, 19, of Fetchet Street.
*A southbound driver was injured and his car was demolished at 8:15 a.m. Friday, when it ran off South Herman Street and struck a tree near East Pine Street, police said. Diawanda Delores Godwin, 26, of Slaughter Street was released after emergency-room treatment. She was charged with reckless driving. The car was valued at $8,000.
*A driver was injured in a one-vehicle wreck at 9:15 a.m. Friday on Pineview Cemetery Road near Long Henry Grady Road, the Highway Patrol said. Eliasar Morales, 20, of Cabin Creek Drive, Seven Springs, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where his condition was not immediately available. He was charged with speeding after the car struck standing water, struck a ditch and overturned into a yard. The car, valued at $1,500, was destroyed.
*Both drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $14,000 in a two-vehicle, head-on collision at 1:52 p.m. Thursday on Old Smithfield Road near Ferry Bridge Road, the Highway Patrol said. Hazel G. Blackwell, 65, of Barrier Place, Pikeville, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where her condition was not immediately available. Phillip Marion Turnipseed, 40, of North Marion Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. Turnipseed, who was going east, was charged with driving left of center. After the impact, the report said, Turnipseed's pickup truck spun around and rolled over into a ditch. Ms. Blackwell's car spun around and stopped on the road.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*About $100 was stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a window was damaged at an apartment in the 2500 block of East Elm Street, police said. The resident, Domonique McKinney, set damage at $30.
*Two camcorders and a combination television and DVD player were stolen between Saturday night and Sunday from Radio Shack at 405 N. Berkeley Blvd., police said. The property was valued at $1,400.
*A white, four-door 2005 Ford Taurus was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from the 100 block of Vanderbilt Circle, police said. The car, rented by Shani A. DeVaughn of Conway, S.C., was valued at $10,000.
*A black 1995 GMC Suburban was stolen Friday from the 700 block of Franklin Street, police said. The owner, Hector Alberto Cuevas Domingues of Dudley, said he had left the keys inside the unlocked vehicle, that was valued at $8,000.
