Goldsboro native composer

"Cloud Dance," a collection of classical pieces and Celtic jigs recorded by the ensemble, Consonance, has been released internationally on the Independent Records label of Blairstown, N.J.
All but two of the works contained on the compact disc were composed by Dr. William Pruett, professor of music at Campbell University.
"The CD is half upbeat and half slow and lyrical," Pruett said. "It's very orchestral with violin, piano and sometimes an entire orchestra behind it."
The recording features Jevonda Greer as violinist with piano, orchestral and electronic instruments. Pruett, who teaches music composition, electronic music, orchestration and sight singing at Campbell, wrote and orchestrated all of the music.
A Campbell graduate, Pruett received a bachelor's degree in 1989. He went on to earn a master's degree in music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate from Indiana University.
Pruett, a native of Goldsboro, has been a professor in the Campbell University Music Department for five years.
"We're very please with the response to the CD," Pruett said. "We've already sold hundreds in the U.S., and there have been some sales in England as well."
