Warsaw sign will honor those serving in the military

WARSAW -- The Chamber of Commerce and Warsaw town officials unveiled a sign Thursday morning in honor of those serving in the military service.
Warsaw Chamber President Jim Harris was master of ceremonies during a brief unveiling ceremony in front of Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q at the I-40 exit. Town Commissioner Walter Foster provided an invocation, and Mayor Win Batten welcomed those who attended. The speaker was Staff Sgt. Johnny McGee of the N.C. National Guard 30th Infantry Brigade. McGee recently served in Iraq.
Chamber Director Kinda Kitchin said it is only fitting Warsaw erect a sign honoring the nation's military, since the town is the home of the oldest continuous Veterans Day celebration in the nation.
"We feel the sign itself will show our support and love for those that have given and those that continue to give so much to our country," she said.
