Internet class for business set
A three-hour Internet-based class for building small businesses will be held at Wayne Community College next week.
Virtual Incubator Platform for Eastern North Carolina, VIP for ENC, will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-9 in Room 202 of the Wayne Learning Center on the college's main campus.
Sponsored by the school's Business and Industry Center and the Foundation of Renewal for Eastern North Carolina, the specialized training workshop is for citizens, entrepreneurs and business leaders. It provides in-depth, professional instruction in the use of this new business resource.
VIP for ENC is a technology tool designed to promote teaming, improve competitiveness, and grow and sustain small businesses in eastern North Carolina in such areas as homeland security, military procurement, travel, tourism, and entertainment.
The program meets the needs of businesses and entrepreneurs by increasing networking and marketing opportunities while also providing access to high demand tools and templates, bid opportunities, and human resources and technical talent.

Bell to sing at Duplin event
WARSAW -- State Rep. Larry Bell will sing at this year's Duplin County Hall of Fame Banquet.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 in the Jester's Court of the Country Squire Restaurant.
Bell will be accompanied by pianist and former Miss Duplin County Gayle Sloan Kennedy, and another soloist for the event, Karla Casteen, will be accompanied by Vera Coombs.
Every November, the Duplin Hall of Fame recognizes and inducts an outstanding citizen from the past and present who helped make the county better for all its citizens.

When Bell is not representing the district in Raleigh, he is a motivational speaker, a land developer and a vocalist. He attends Poplar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Faison. He is a graduate of Douglas High School in Warsaw; N.C. A&T in Greensboro; East Carolina University; and the Tennessee School of Religion in Memphis. He has been a state representative since 2001.
