Teen charged
A teen was arrested Friday and charged in a shooting incident the previous night, the Goldsboro Police Department reported.
Investigator W.P. VanWijk arrested Shatanna Thompson, 16, of Lincoln Drive, and charged him with two felony counts: Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Thompson, who's known as "KeeRoss," was charged also with a misdemeanor count of assault by pointing a gun. Thompson was placed in the Wayne County Jail under $200,500 bond.
The charges stem from the investigation into a shooting in the 1100 block of N. James Street on Thursday, according to reports. No further information was available about that assault. Investigator M. Moore assisted; the ivestigation is continuing.
Shooting
A Goldsboro man was shot by a stranger early Saturday morning, police report.
Francisco Enrique Puerto, 24, of Brenn Loop, told police that he was standing by his car, which was parked in the 400 block of N. Carolina Street, around 2:30 a.m. when he was approached by a black male carrying a shotgun.
The suspect reportedly said, "Don't move -- I'm going to shoot you." Puerto turned and began to run when the suspect shot at him. Puerto was struck by pellets in the right side of his torso and in his right arm. The suspect then fled.
Puerto was taken to the Wayne Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
The suspect was described as a black male in his late 20s, around 6 feet tall with a thin build, wearing a brown T-shirt and black pants. The victim said that he did not know him.
Investigations
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating these reports:
*The front door of the Goldsboro Flea Market on William Street was broken either late Friday or early Saturday. Nothing was reported stolen.
*Counterfeit $10 bills have been received by some local merchants.
*Jason Henton reported the theft of around $8,000 worth of tools from a storage shed at his home in the 700 block of N. Spence Street. A barking dog alerted him to the theft around 3:15 a.m. Saturday.
*Two videogame systems and a scanner were taken from a car parked in the 200 block of House Street. Elois Berkeley Carlton reported the theft at 10 a.m. Saturday.
*A CD player valued at $300 was stolen from a Ford Expedition parked in the 300 block of Olivia Drive. Ernest Daniel Boney Jr. reported the theft Saturday morning.
*Wisdom Lee Simms reported the theft of a golf cart and a set of golf clubs from his home in the 200 block of Herbert Street Saturday morning.
*A CD player, 20 CDs and a pair of glasses were missing from a Pontiac Grand Prix in the 100 block of Hazel Street. Tammy Best Flowers reported the theft Saturday.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:
*Gene Maurice Wiseman reported the theft of a generator, gas-powered auger, camcorder and digital camera from a storage building behind his home on Memorial Church Road. The missing items were worth a combined $2,700.
*GAF Materials Corp. reported a truckload of shingles that was supposed to have been taken to a Home Depot facility had not been delivered. The shingles were valued at $6,255.
