There is a later development in Saturday's story about the reunion of people who once lived in the Little Washington area of Goldsboro before urban renewal destroyed its houses. The oldest person in attendance actually was Eloise Williams, 91.
A reporter who covered the reunion discovered, and duly reported, that the oldest person there was Simon Kennon, 86. That was before Mrs. Williams arrived.
Mrs. Williams, like Kennon, still lives in Goldsboro. She moved to Elm Street when she left her Little Washington home.
Delores Jackson, who also attended the reunion, said Mrs. Williams raised 10 children in Little Washington. She fed hot biscuits and sweet potatoes to many others so they could have food on their way home from Dillard High School to neighborhoods throughout the city, Mrs. Jackson said.
