Two men wanted
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on the location of two men wanted for multiple offenses.
Best
Andrew Douglas "Doug" Best, 44, is wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants. He was described as white, 5-feet-9 and 165 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Detectives say Best may have cut his hair very short and shaved his beard. He was seen last in the Quaker Neck area. He is considered armed and dangerous and has threatened to harm any law-enforcement officer who tries to arrest him.
Carter
Mack McCuiston "Buddy" Carter Jr., 45, is wanted on three outstanding arrest warrants. He also is wanted for questioning about several break-ins. He was described as white, 6-feet and 180 pounds with red hair and blue eyes. He was seen last in the Central Heights area.
Anyone with information on the location of either man was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for a cash reward, if their information leads to an arrest.
Driver injured
A driver from Goldsboro was injured and charged with driving while impaired after a one-car wreck at 1:20 a.m. today on South Jefferson Avenue near Banks Avenue, Goldsboro police said.
Stacey Gamble, 24, of Cella Street was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. He also was charged with driving while his license was revoked and exceeding a safe speed. Bond was set at $800.
Gamble was driving north and tried to turn right onto Banks Avenue, but the car jumped the curb and struck a fire hydrant and a tree, the report said. The car, valued at $6,000, was demolished. Damage to the hydrant was set at $1,000.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A computer, eight cassette tapes, two lights, sunglasses, a knife, a necklace, a bracelet and $5 were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday after a car window was forced open in the 800 block of Genoa Road, sheriff's deputies said. The owner and resident, T.N. Arbogast, put a $524 value on the stolen property.
*A laptop computer and $200 were stolen Wednesday from a home in the 100 block of Avon Court, deputies said. The resident, S.M. Witthoft, said the laptop was worth $1,000. The thief had entered through an open window, the report said.
Larceny charge
A 35-year-old man was arrested Wednesday by Wayne County sheriff's detectives and charged with the felony larceny of about 34 junked vehicles from a lot on Lancaster Road.
Joshua Daniel Pelt of Stan Ray Road, Fremont, was accused of taking the vehicles and selling them over three weeks to a salvage yard in Dudley, Sgts. Carl Lancaster and Mike Kabler said. The vehicles were stolen from Bobby Pelt of Goldsboro. Joshua Pelt was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1,500 secured bond.
Missing
A 16-year-old boy was reported missing Wednesday by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Henry Bermudez of 103 Weatherby Drive was described as white, 5-feet-9 and 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
When Bermudez was seen last at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, he was wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and a red, white and blue ball cap. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
