Professor of classical guitar to perform at Mount Olive College

MOUNT OLIVE -- Derek Day, adjunct professor of classical guitar, will perform at Mount Olive College on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Rodgers Chapel.
Featured works will include selections from Bach, Scarlatti and Giulani.
Day is also a professor for Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Fayetteville Technical College, in addition to teaching private guitar lessons.
He earned his bachelor of music degree from Texas Tech University, his master of music degree from State University of New York, and he is currently pursuing his doctorate degree from Shenandoah Conservatory. He has appeared at St. Paul's Cathedral in Buffalo, N.Y., and at other locations across the East Coast and in Texas.
In addition, he has appeared alongside Carla Helmbrecht, Junior Brown, the late Tommie Anderson, Waylon Jennings, and Ken, Lloyd, and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks.
Day, a Clinton resident, has been described as a "first-rate classical guitarist."
The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
