Natural causes

A 61-year-old man whose body was found in a field behind the 1600 block of Courtyard Circle died of natural causes, Goldsboro police announced today.

The body of Willie West Weatherspoon of 2202 Courtyard Circle was found by neighborhood children at about 5 p.m. Monday.

Police Maj. Jay Memmelaar Jr. said the cause of Weatherspoon's death was determined after an investigation and an examination of the body. It was not known how long the man had been dead.

Collisions

A driver may have had a seizure at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday when he lost control of the car that he was driving on U.S. 70 West near Eureka Drive, a Goldsboro police report said.

Remo Josef Todd, 25, of Oakland Church Road was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. The car had run off the left side, struck orange barrels, careened back off the right side, crossed a ditch and struck a sign, police said.

Todd was charged with driving while his license was revoked, fictitious plates and a safe-movement violation. Damages were put at $3,000 to the car, the barrels and the sign.

In a three-vehicle collision at 8 a.m. Tuesday at South John and East Elm streets, police said damages were estimated at $6,700.

Tiffany Nicole Hardy, 28, of Fussell Street, was charged with a stoplight violation. Lawyer Edward Gregory, 40, of Bizzell Court, was charged with driving while his license was revoked and leaving the scene of an accident. The other driver was identified as Kelly Downes Lewis, 29, of Oak Circle Drive.

Police said Ms. Hardy's eastbound car collided with Ms. Lewis' northbound sport utility vehicle and then struck Gregory's westbound van.

Drug charge

A 41-year-old Goldsboro woman was arrested before dawn today by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony drug offense.

Leigh Anne Sizemore of North William Street was charged with possession of cocaine. She also was held on a fugitive warrant from Virginia. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
