The education committee of Wayne County Chamber of Commerce surprised teachers with its second round of teacher mini-grants.

The Business and Education Partnership, sponsored by the Wayne Charitable Partnership and the chamber, delivered 11 grants to teachers at eight schools in the county. The money will support new ideas and help implement special projects.

Some of the projects mentioned in teachers' applications were the creation of a geometric garden, a tactile-sensory motor center, and the formation of a publishing company.

Mini-grant recipients were Cathy Best of Rosewood High School; Heather Best and Christina Hayes of Rosewood Elementary; Beth VanHorn of Northeast Elementary; Yanet Cast of Rosewood and Tommy's Road elementary schools; Arthur Stafford, Karen Steven, Cathie Hooks and Kelly Kokiko of Tommy's Road Elementary; Annette McCullough of Spring Creek High; Donna Countryman and Marty Saylor of Edgewood Community Developmental School; Weslea Gray and Terry Beachem of Eastern Wayne Elementary School; and Beverly Boltinhouse of Eastern Wayne Middle School.
