Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the afternoon, Emily Elizabeth Hartley and Buck Tony Edmundson were united in holy matrimony in a double-ring ceremony in First Presbyterian church of Dunn, N.C. The Rev. Doug Johnson and Dr. David Sherrod officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Ellis Butler Sr. and Becky Thomas Hartley of Dunn and the granddaughter of the late Ray and Kathleen Thomas and Marvin and Elizabeth Hartley.

She is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory science, and is employed at Vidant Medical Center.

The groom is the son of Eddie Ray and Parker Vinson Edmundson of Goldsboro and the grandson of Annie Laura Casey and Helen Edmundson Mclean of Goldsboro and the late Tony Vinson and Buck Edmundson.

He is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise and sports science, and is employed with Wilson County Schools at Fike High School as a teacher and head baseball coach.

The bride wore a Mori Lee ruched satin mermaid gown embellished by heavily beaded appliqués in ivory.

Her headpiece was a straight ivory cathedral-length veil made of soft tulle.

She carried a tailored bouquet of green cymbidium orchids, ivory hydrangeas and ivory roses with small orchids wrapped in ivory satin.

Kaleigh Vincek of Greenville was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Imke Hartley of Wilmington, sister-in-law of the bride; Rae Ann Edmundson of Goldsboro, sister of the groom; Summer Silmon of Raleigh; Alexis Arburthnot of Union Bridge, Md.; and Jamie Stonesifer of New Oxford, Pa.

Eddie Ray Edmundson was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Ellis Hartley Jr. of Wilmington and Stewart Hartley of Raleigh, brothers of the bride; Will Vinson of Wilmington, cousin of the groom; Hudson Rose of Wilmington; Steve Jolly of Wilmington; Chris Godwin of Pikeville; Nick Dubberly of Fremont; and Conner Bedgood of Wilson.

Jeffrey Surles directed the wedding.

Lauren Vinson, cousin of the groom, presided at the register. Ashley Confroy and Kellen Skinner distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Marilyn Wiemands, harpist; Mary Sue Godwin, pianist; and Jamison Griffin and Sarah Roberts, cousins of the groom, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at the Preston Woodall House in Benson.

After a wedding trip to Mexico, the couple will reside in Wilson.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party at the home of Eddie and Parker Edmundson; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower in August in Atlantic Beach hosted by girlfriends and bridesmaids; an around-the-clock shower Sept. 21 at Simply Divine in Dunn hosted by family and friends of the bride; a bridal shower Oct. 13, 2013, at the home of Annie Laura Casey, grandmother of the groom, hosted by Mrs. Casey; a miscellaneous shower in Greenville hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bachelor weekend in November in Tampa, Fla.; a rehearsal dinner at the Barrington House in Dunn hosted by the groom’s parents with special music by Steven Stewart; and a bridesmaids’ brunch the morning of the wedding.
