Emilee Katelyn Quinn and Thomas Sullivan Pilkington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 17 at 5 o’clock in the afternoon at Saulston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carolyn Sims and Dr. Elvin Butts officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darren Scott Quinn of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Alfred Quinn and Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Wellon Pittman of Goldsboro.

She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2008. She currently attends East Carolina University and will graduate in May 2012 with bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biology. In the fall, she will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry to pursue a doctorate of dental surgery degree.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Nancy Sullivan Pilkington of Goldsboro and the late Mr. Terry Eugene Pilkington. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Pilkington and Mrs. Hazel Howell Sullivan of Goldsboro and the late Mr. Paul Braxton Sullivan.

He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2007 and East Carolina University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education with a concentration in math and social studies. He is employed as a seventh- and eighth-grade teacher with Pitt County Public Schools.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.

The bride wore a candlelight strapless couture gown in French organza. The sweetheart neckline trailed into a deep V-back. The bodice was overlaid with Alencon lace embellished with Swarovski crystals, bugle beads and pearls. A cummerbund waist flowed into a bow tied at the back of the A-line cathedral-length gown.

Her custom-designed cathedral veil was edged with the same style lace that adorned the skirt of her gown.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of white peonies, lily of the valley and fresh greenery wrapped with white satin ribbon.

Maggie Nicole Walston of Snow Hill, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Brittany Leigh Carr of Mount Olive, Stephanie Caitlin Rains of Goldsboro and Mallory Elizabeth Strickland of Goldsboro, friends of the bride, and Leah Quinn Lovett of Winterville, cousin of the bride.

Trent Edward Pilkington of Greenville, brother of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Trevor Eugene Pilkington of Goldsboro, brother of the groom; Dylan Scott Quinn and Ethan Samuel Quinn of Goldsboro, brothers of the bride; and Carson Gray Sasser of Goldsboro, friend of the groom.

Ushers were Paul Christopher Butts and Ray Allen Butts of Dunn, cousins of the groom.

Gwendolyn Dare Digby of Clayton, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Peyton Lee Pilkington of Goldsboro, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Henry William Pittman of Chapel Hill, cousin of the bride, was the Bible bearer and held the Bible carried by the maternal grandmother and the mother of the bride on their wedding days.

Donna Digby of Clayton, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Abbey Strickland of Goldsboro, friend of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by Camille Frederick of Goldsboro, pianist, and Jennifer Heim of Goldsboro, violinist. Arlie Honeycutt of Garner and Thomas Shaw of Goldsboro were the vocalists.

Ethan Quinn was scripture reader.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Quinn of Charlotte, great-uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Brian Taylor of Goldsboro directed the reception.

After a wedding trip to Wintergreen, Va., the couple resides in Greenville.

Events held before the wedding included a guys’ weekend June 18-19 in Atlanta, Ga., hosted by friends of the groom; a girls’ weekend Aug. 1-3 in Asheville hosted by Maggie Walston; a bridal shower Sept. 25 at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church hosted by friends and family of the groom; a garden and tool party Oct. 22 at the Pilkington home hosted by Trevor and Teresa Pilkington, brother and sister-in-law of the groom; a bridal shower Oct. 23 at Saulston United Methodist Church hosted by family and friends of the bride; a Christmas shower Nov. 27 at Saulston United Methodist Church hosted by Katina Pittman, aunt of the bride, and Angie Smith, Mallory Strickland and Wanda Strickland, friends of the bride; a bridesmaids luncheon Dec. 3 at the Pittman home hosted by Carolyn Pittman, maternal grandmother of the bride, Brenda Pittman, Katina Pittman and Jane Smith, aunts of the bride; and a wedding day breakfast Dec. 17 at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by Vernell Quinn, paternal grandmother of the bride, and Dana Quinn and Kelly Quinn, aunts of the bride.

The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner Dec. 16 at Saulston United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
