Lydia Anne Zimmer of Raleigh and Stephen Paul Johnson of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. in Emerald Isle, with the Rev. Jeffrey Johnson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Edward F. Zimmer of Hillsborough and Dr. Lucy M. Chartier of Raleigh and the granddaughter of the late Edward and Ethel Zimmer of Buffalo, N.Y., and the late Garvin Edward and Rita Burgess Mange of Anniston.

The bride graduated from Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh in 2003, the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2008 with honors with a degree in literature/creative writing and graduate studies in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2010 with a master’s degree in creative writing with a Rotary International scholarship. She will attend nursing school at Duke University beginning in January. She is employed as a clinical associate at Life Quality Resources in Raleigh.

The groom is the son of Billy Cecil Johnson and Barbara Lee Johnson of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Orville and Zella Mae Johnson of North Wilkesboro and the late Samuel and Elizabeth Flippen of Mount Airy.

The groom graduated from Goldsboro High School 1994 and North Carolina State University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He has worked with the disability community as an employment specialist and grant writer. He is employed as a clinical associate at Life Quality Resources in Raleigh.

The bride was escorted by her fathers, Dr. Dan Chartier and Edward Zimmer, and given in marriage by her parents.

Emily Asbury was matron of honor, while Thea Guze was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kara Zimmer, Liza Chartier, Sara Pearson-Moyers and Hana Sacek.

Casey Ventre and Curtis Breese were the best men.

Groomsmen were Chris Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Mike Johnson and Danny Johnson.

Ushers were Graham Potter, Cooper Johnson, Wynn Johnson and Kyle Wiggins.

Chloe Johnson was flower girl. Gabriel Sharpe was ringbearer.

Diane McKossick and Heidi Barlow directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jennifer Johnson.

Gregory Johnson and Thea Guze witnessed the signing of the marriage license.

A program of wedding music was provided by Edward Stephenson and Greg Hilton of Raleigh, guitarists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held outdoors overlooking Bogue Sound.

After their wedding trip to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, the couple will reside in Raleigh.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party Dec. 11 at Adam Cave Fine Art Gallery in Raleigh hosted by the bride’s mother and stepfather; a bridal shower in July hosted by the bridesmaids; a bridesmaids’ brunch Sept. 10 at Ocean Club in Salter Path hosted by the bride's maternal aunts, Carol Potter of Anniston and Jill Mange of Selma, Ala., aunts of the bride.

The couple’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Country Club of the Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores.
