Emily Grace Coates and David Josef Geiger of Angier exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 1 at 2 p.m. at Hocutt Baptist Church in Clayton, with the Rev. Richard Fitzgerald officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Everett Lacy and Deborah Phillips Coates of Clayton and the granddaughter of the late Lacy W. and Wilma D. Coates of Clayton and Joyce Trellis Zittrouer Phillips and the late Edward Phillips of Goldsboro.

She is a 2008 graduate of Clayton High School and attends Campbell University in the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program for a degree in history and secondary education. She is employed as waitress at Simon’z Restaurant in Angier, a dance instructor at Grace Ballroom in Angier and a substitute teacher in the Johnston County School System.

The groom is the son of David Alan and Karen Geiger of Clayton and the grandson of Jackie Geiger and the late Charlie Monroe Geiger of North Charleston, S.C., and Franz and Gretchen Krane of Summerville, S.C.

He is a 2008 graduate of Wake Christian Academy and attends Campbell University for a degree in business and music. He is owner and dance instructor at Grace Ballroom.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a sweetheart neckline embroidered ballgown with a cathedral-length train and a fingertip-length veil.

She carried a bouquet of violet and white silk flowers enhanced with an antique mother of pearl brooch worn by more than five generations of brides on the Zittrouer side of her family.

Heather Elizabeth Coates was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Alyssa Phillips, cousin of the bride; Katrina Geiger, sister of the groom; and Rebekah Lanier, friend of the bride.

Charles Mosley was his friend’s best man.

Groomsmen were Anton Wilson, Nathan Fox and Jeremy Schap, friends of the groom.

Rachel Hicks, friend of the bride, was the honorary maid of honor.

Jordan and Laurel Pate, cousins of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.

Corbin and Landon Gardner, cousins of the bride, were ringbearers.

Kelly Griffith, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Chandler Pate, cousin of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by James Elmore, friend of the bride’s family, pianist, and Karen Karner, friend of the groom, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Church of Clayton Crossings in Clayton.

After their wedding trip to Philadelphia, Pa., the couple will reside in Angier.

Events held before the wedding included a shower May 21 in Smithfield hosted by Kelly Griffith, Danyelle Johnson and Rebekah Lanier; a couple’s shower June 4 at Grace Ballroom hosted by Kimberly Gardner, Ellen Smith and Harriett Barbee, cousins of the bride; and a bridesmaids’ shower June 12 at Hocutt Baptist Church in Clayton hosted by the bridesmaids and the bride’s grandmother.

A rehearsal dinner was held June 30 at LoneStar Steak House in Clayton.
