Wendy Rene Best of Mount Olive and Christopher Michael Malpass of Mount Olive exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 23 at 3 p.m. at The Church of God of Prophecy in Selma, with Ronnie Massey officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmie Edward and Barbara Williams Best of Dudley and the granddaughter of Agnes Rogers of Dudley, the late Ralph Best and the late John Pelt of Goldsboro and Lois Pelt of Smithfield.

She graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1993. She is employed as an office manager.

The groom is the son of James Kent and Barbara Watson Malpass of Faison and the grandson of Evelyn Malpass and the late Gordon Malpass of Faison and Ann Watson and the late Charles Watson of Mount Olive.

He graduated from North Duplin High School in 1993. He is employed as an industrial maintenance technician.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a silhouette with pick-up detail on the skirt, a tank bodice with beaded appliqué detail at the empire waist with a sweep train.

The bride carried a bouquet of white and lavender tulips with pearls.

Vivian Lane of Pikeville was her cousin’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Logan Flowers of Mount Olive, daughter of the bride; Taylor Malpass and Brooke Malpass of Mount Olive, daughters of the groom; and Jaime Myers of Mount Olive, sister of the groom.

Kent Malpass was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Chuck Williams of Jonesboro, Ga., and David Maxwell of Fayetteville, uncles of the groom; Joshua Williams of Atlanta, Ga., cousin of the groom; and Jim Myers of Mount Olive, brother-in-law of the groom.

Mia Malpass of Beulaville and Chelsea Malpass of Mount Olive, daughters of the groom, and Madison Myers of Mount Olive, niece of the groom, were flower girls. Christopher Malpass Jr. of Beulaville, son of the groom, was ringbearer.

Debbie Massey, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Taylor Saucier of Pikeville.

Special helpers were Wendy Fields, friend of the bride; Teresa Gill, cousin of the bride; and Joyce Styer, aunt of the bride.

After their wedding trip to Tahiti, the couple will reside in Mount Olive.

Events held before the wedding included a pure romance shower Feb. 25 hosted by Greta Rhodes and Jaime Myers and a bridal shower April 3 hosted by Vivian Lane.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner April 22.
