NORTH WILKESBORO — Margaret Bryan Taylor and Roger Elliott Hicks III exchanged vows May 29 at 5 p.m. at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Stevan Allan Snipes officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bryan Taylor of North Wilkesboro and the granddaughter of Mary Williams Taylor, the late Dr. Robert Glenn Taylor Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gambill Higgins.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and attends Loyola University in Chicago for a graduate degree.

The groom is the son of Wendy Campbell Hicks of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Elliott Hicks Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cannon of Goldsboro, the late James Archie Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Elliott Hicks of Lexington, S.C.

He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and attends Illinois Technical University in Chicago for a degree in psychology.

The bride was escorted by her father.

She wore a designer sheath-style gown of diamond white Italian satin embellished with full-length ruching that fell into an asymmetrical train. The V-neckline was accented with a circle pin of Swarovski crystals.

Her headpiece was an elbow-length veil of silk illusion attached with a crystal comb.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of blue and white French hydrangeas, calla lilies, Marylsse roses and green raechyllium.

Erin Taylor Anderson was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Julie Bomba of Birmingham, Ala., Courtney Dean of Arlington, Va., Kate Robertson of Washington, D.C., Torey Sheets of Chapel Hill and Rachel Snipes of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Andrew Campbell Hicks was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Dr. Steven Anderson, brother-in-law of the bride, Chris Coors of Garner, Todd Gardner of Fayetteville, Hunter Shunatona of Albany, Calif., and Patrick Summers of Chapel Hill.

Anna Grace Anderson, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Cathy Shaw Snipe directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Ashley Campbell and Corey Skender. Taylor Campbell and Haley Snellgrove distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Marty Franklin, organist, and Andrew Campbell Hicks, trumpeter.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Watson Stage at Wilkes Community College. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Parsons and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Claycomb greeted guests. A four-tiered wedding cake was served.

After their wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Chicago.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower and luncheon at Talia Espresso hosted by Erin Taylor Anderson, sister of the bride, and Anna Grace Anderson, niece of the bride; a shower at the home of the groom’s grandparents, Walter and Linda Cannon of Goldsboro; a shower at the home of Roger and Sandra Hicks in Lexington; a weekend in Charleston, S.C.; a gentleman’s fishing retreat at River’s Way Lodge in Bluff City, Tenn., hosted by the bride’s father and members of Bene Hercle Angling Society; a welcome-to-Wilkes barbecue at the home of Chris and Debi Claycomb of Oakwoods hosted by the Claycombs, Michael and Vikki Parsons, Ike Forrester, Becky Phillips and Justin and Courtney Colbert; a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Applewood Bistro hosted by Cathy Snipes and Sandy Sheets during which time the bride presented gifts to her attendants; and a brunch May 29 at Talia Espresso hosted by Harold and Becky Hill, Jerry and Susie Howell, Lyn and Susan Lambert, Mitzi Powell and DeNeal and Sherry Stafford.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro.
