Gurley-Bell
LAURINBURG — Meredith Corbett Bell and Bradford Dean Gurley exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 27 at 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Brown officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Robert F. Bell Jr. and Debora Ponivas Bell of Laurinburg and the granddaughter of Robert F. Bell Sr. and Suzanne Ringer Bell of Burlington and Nancy Burns Ponivas of Atkinson.
She is a graduate of Scotland High School and Meredith College with a bachelor’s degree. She is employed as lead teacher for Moore at Four for Wayne County Schools.
The groom is the son of Isaac Dean and Jackie Jarrell Gurley of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late J. Isaac Gurley and Clara D. Gurley, the late Robert “Jack” Edward Jarrell and Esther West Jarrell of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Wayne Country Day School in 1994 and Elon College in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree. He is employed as vice president of J. Isaac Gurley Farms.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a gown of satin with a strapless beaded lace bodice adorned with scattered Swarovski crystals, beads and sequins along with an organza ruffle around the top edge of the neckline. The gown featured an A-line satin skirt and floral lace appliqués at the hem and inset along the train that was scattered with the Swarovski crystals.
Her headpiece was a matching veil of blusher length trimmed with matching crystals and beadwork borrowed from her sister Elizabeth’s crystal headpiece.
Elizabeth Bell Hunter was her sister’s matron of honor, while Catherine Fowler Bell was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Laura Elizabeth McClees of Cary and Carolina Medlin Schmidt and Bonnie Carol Yarboro of Raleigh.
Isaac D. Gurley was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Dr. William Harvey of Kinston, Jeffery Scott Hunetr of Cary, brother-in-law of the groom, Robert Bruce Malpass of Greenville, John Burwell Parker of Raleigh and Ernest Taylor of Mount Olive.
Kaitlyn Elizabeth Hunter of Raleigh was flower girl. William Prevatt of Raleigh, family friend of the bride, was ringbearer.
Honorary attendants were Elizabeth Austell of Mooresville, Caitlin Trappani of Hoboken, N.J., Maggie May of Raleigh and Kristin Southard of Greensboro.
Mrs. Andrew Womble of Laurinburg directed the wedding. Ray McDaniel of Laurinburg was the coordinator.
A program of wedding music was provided by Ernie Rushing of Fayetteville, vocalist; Dr. William T McConnell, organist; and Chris Neverrve of Greenville, trumpeter.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Scotch Meadows Country Club in Laurinburg.
After their wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The groom hosted a rehearsal dinner March 26 at the Thomas Walton Manor.
