FREMONT — Ashley Lane Parker and Charles Christopher Walker exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 1 at 11 a.m. at Gov. Charles B. Aycock Birthplace, with pastor Danny Johnson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Richard Worth Parker and Susan Lane Parker of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Worth White Parker, the late Ida Frances Britt Parker, Alfred Dees “Rudy” Lane and the late Mildred Gurley “Mutt” Lane of Goldsboro.

She is a 2002 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2004 and 2008 graduate of Wayne Community College with associate degrees in business administration and nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at O’Berry NMTC.

The groom is the son of Robert Randolph Walker Jr. and Debra Landes Walker of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Robert Randolph and Justyne Mohler Walker of Natural Bridge, Va., and Charles David Landes and Nancy Blackburn Landes of Glasgow, Va.

He is a 2002 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is self-employed as a mechanic/wrecker driver for Cooter’s Wrecker Service.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless ivory gown with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice was embellished with crystal beading and the skirt and sweeping train were adorned with crystal pickups.

Her headpiece was a silver tiara accented with pearls and rhinestones and double-tiered elbow-length veil.

The bride carried a handtied bouquet of aster lilies, bells of Ireland and carnations.

Jessica Williams was her cousin’s maid of honor.

Jennifer Hall, friend of the bride, was the bridesmaid.

Robert Walker Jr. was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jason Capps, friend of the groom, and Robert Walker III, brother of the groom.

Marie Abrams, friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tiffany Bowden, friend of the bride. Amy Lawhorn, friend of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Delbert Edwards, uncle of the bride, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a barbecue lunch receptions was held in the auditorium at Gov. Charles B. Aycock Birthplace. Debby Sasser, friend of the bride’s family, served the three-tiered wedding cake with fresh pink and green flowers. Deneen Davis, aunt of the groom, poured punch. Dylan and Dalton Schreffler, cousins of the bride, distributed birdseed.

After their wedding trip to Walt Disney World, Fla., the couple will reside in Wayne County.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower April 17 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church hosted by Verl Palmer, aunt of the bride, and family.

The groom’s parents and grandfather, Dr. Yeddu B.R.P. Raju, hosted a rehearsal dinner at Texas Steakhouse. A groom’s cake in the shape of a wrecker was served.
