Brittani Danielle Edgerton of Pikeville and Taylor Stanford Purdie of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 15 at 3:30 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Robert Keith and Cynthia Brock Edgerton of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Robert and Annie Lou Edgerton and Rommie and Shelby Brock of Goldsboro.

She graduated with honors from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2006 and attends East Carolina University majoring in elementary education.

The groom is the son of Scott Thomas and Tracey Mems Purdie of Pikeville and the grandson of Robin and Marian Purdie of California and Robert and Patricia Mems of Georgia.

He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2006 and East Carolina University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will be commissioned in the United States Army next year.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a formal gown of ivory satin back taffeta with a strapless neckline. The draped A-line skirt was enhanced with beaded appliqués, button back detail and an inverted box pleated semi-cathedral train.

Her headpiece was a two-tiered veil of silk illusion that ended in a soutache trim.

The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies.

Emily Sasser was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Tiffany Koehl and Courtney Bradford, friends of the couple, and Taylor Raye, cousin of the bride.

Brandon Purdie was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Brandon Edgerton, brother of the bride, and Tyler Mills and Aaron Kline, friends of the couple.

Sherry Bass, Jenny Raye and Stacey Grady directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Chelsey Byers, friend of the couple.

A program of wedding music was provided by Karen Patzer, pianist; Casey Sutton and Julie Lancaster, vocalists; and Randy Taylor, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, the groom’s parents hosted a reception at Lane Tree Country Club. Jenny Raye, aunt of the bride, served the three-tiered wedding cake.

After their wedding trip to Antigua, the couple will reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower March 21 hosted by friends and family of the couple; a lingerie shower April 17 hosted by Chelsey Byers and Tiffany Koehl; a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 1 hosted by Jane and Julie Lancaster; a bachelorette party May 9 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by friends of the bride; and a bachelor party in Las Vegas hosted by friends of the groom.

The bride’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner May 14 at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
