GRANTHAM — Whitli Thornton of Grantham and Eddie Huerta of Rosewood exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. at Selah Church, with the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Kenneth and Dianne Thornton of Grantham and the granddaughter of John and Marjorie Tart of Grantham and the late Ruby and Edgar Lee Thornton.

She graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2007 and attends Edgecombe Community College for a degree in health information technology.

The groom is the son of Jose Huerta of Louisburg and Constance Powell of Rosewood and the grandson of Sandra Powell and the late Willie “Bud” Powell of Rosewood.

He graduated from Rosewood High School in 2006. He is serving as an airman in the United States Air Force.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She carried a handtied bouquet of red roses surrounded by white hydrangea.

Caroline Tart, friend of the couple, was the maid of honor.

Stephen Tart, friend of the couple, was best man.

Jason Thornton, brother of the bride, was the usher.

Amy Smith directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tracy Galeazzi. Anna Ingram distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by LaRue Tart, relative of the bride, pianist, and Billy and Sabrina Tart, relatives of the bride, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Special helpers were Kaye Stephenson, Sabrina and Billy Tart, Beth and Steve Wood, Lisa Ingram, Amy Smith, Tillie Oliver, John and LaRue Tart, Denny Tart, Anna Ingram and Kelsey Tart.

The couple took a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla.

Events before the wedding included a beach weekend get-away Feb. 7 hosted by Stephen and Caroline Tart and Brooke Goff; a brunch and shower Feb. 27 hosted by the women at Selah Church; a gift card shower and dinner at Logan’s Feb. 28 hosted by the bride’s Sunday school class; a spa day hosted by Caroline Tart; and a brunch and shower at the home of Ricky, Amy and Collyn Smith hosted by the Smiths, Lisa Ingram, Tillie Oliver, Kaye Stephenson and Anna Ingram.

A rehearsal dinner was held Feb. 12 in the church fellowship hall.
