Tonya Cheyrene Bass of Goldsboro and Willie Robert Doberson Jr. of Mount Olive exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 1 at 12:01 a.m. at Prayer Ministries, with minister Edward Ward officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Judy Bowden of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late James Bowden and the late Annie Laura Best Bowden.

She is a 2006 Graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College and attended Central Michigan University. She is employed as an exceptional children’s teacher with North Carolina Public Schools.

The groom is the son of the late Willie Robert Dobberson and Helen Dobberson and the grandson of the late David and Ophelia Pearsall.

He graduated from Southern Wayne High School. He served in the United States Army. He is employed at AP Parts.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her uncle, Frank Bowden.

Flotilla Leonard was matron of honor.

James Moore was the best man.

Jimmy Bowden was the usher.

Sascha Diggs and Brittany Atkinson were flower girls.

Minister Mathilda Gardner directed the wedding.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower at Prayer Ministries.
