Brandy Nichole Zerkle and Justin Taylor Whitfield exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 4 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael L. Whitfield officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Loren A. and Nancy E. Zerkle of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Dean A. and Bonnie R. Zerkle of Fletcher, Ohio, and Harold Erbaugh and the late Flora M. Erbaugh of Springfield, Ohio.

She graduated from Eastern Wayne High school in 2001 and Appalachian State University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a teacher at Spring Creek Elementary.

The groom is the son of the Rev. Michael L. and Donna H. Whitfield of Mount Olive and the grandson of Beverly R. “Bootly” and Inez L. Whitfield and Peggy T. Chalk of Mount Olive.

He graduated from Southern Wayne High school in 2002 and Wayne Community College in 2004 with an associate degree in turf grass management and attends Fayetteville Technical Community College for a degree in mortuary science. He is employed as a funeral service apprentice at Tyndall Funeral Home.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a satin A-line gown with a straight strapless neckline. The pleated detail under the bust created an inverted V with embroidery and beading on the bodice with lace creating a Basque waistline that led to an embroidered cathedral train.

Her headpiece was a fingertip veil with embroidery and beading along the edges.

The bride carried a bouquet of pink and yellow Gerber daisies, purple and white status and pink roses.

Jennifer Coor was her friend’s matron of honor, while Stacey Zerkle, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Laura Waller and Andrea Armer, friends of the bride.

Josh Whitfield, brother of the groom, was best man.

Groomsmen were John Whitfield, Bryce Ficken and Shane Thompson, friends of the groom.

Lisa Davis directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Khrystal Whitfield, cousin of the groom. Debbie Capps distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Allison Whitfield, sister-in-law of the groom, pianist, and Willie and Dana Sawrey, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Ruth Clark and Linda Bennett, aunts of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Sheila Gamble and Lisa Whitfield, aunts of the groom, poured the punch. Joyce Knight, aunt of the bride, collected gifts. Boots and Jenny Whitfield, uncle and aunt of the groom, greeted guests.

After a wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple resides in Mount Olive.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party Oct. 18 at the home of the groom; a Christmas shower Jan. 3 hosted by Josh and Allison Whitfield; a shower Feb. 5 at Spring Creek Elementary hosted by the second-grade staff; a bridal shower brunch Feb. 28 hosted by the bride’s Sunday school class; a pantry shower March 1 hosted by the ladies auxiliary at Rooty Branch Church; a shower March 9 hosted by Seymour, Tyndall and Rouse Funeral Homes; and a lingerie shower March 21 hosted by Jennifer Coor and Stacey Zerkle.

A rehearsal dinner was held in the church fellowship hall.
