PIKEVILLE — Monica Joann Rodriguez of Pikeville and Jason High of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. at Pikeville Community Center, with the Rev. Gerald Hollamon officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Debbie Head of Goldsboro and John Rodriguez of Inglewood, Calif., and the granddaughter of Milton and Shirley Head of Goldsboro, Buddy Lancaster and the late Grace Lancaster of Pikeville, James Rodriguez of San Pedro, Calif., and the late Marjorie Rodriguez.

She is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2004 graduate of Wayne Community College’s phlebotomy program. She is employed as an ASCP certified phlebotomist.

The groom is the son of Ellen High of Scuffleton and the grandson of Hilton High and Barbara High of Faro.

He is a 2000 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. He is employed as a food merchandising supervisor at Wal-Mart.

The bride was escorted by her stepfather and given in marriage by her family.

She wore a formal strapless gown of latte silk over ivory silk. It had a side slip adorned with sequins.

The bride carried a bouquet of long-stemmed pink and champagne roses tired with Ivory and pink ribbons.

Kristine Gearhart was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Cassie High, cousin of the groom; Mary Kate Kruger, friend of the couple; and Jessica Washam, friend of the bride.

Hilton High was his grandson’s best man.

Groomsmen were Anthony Malsavo, cousin of the groom; Kevin Messick, friend of the couple; and Jonathan Coker, friend of the groom.

Susan Murray and Natalie Neal, friends of the bride’s family, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Pam Head, aunt of the bride. Deloris Sheehan, aunt of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kenneth Brickhouse, friend of the couple, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Pikeville Community Center. Vicky Russell, aunt of the groom, served the wedding cake. Deborah High, aunt of the groom, poured punch.

The couple reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party Aug. 3 hosted by the groomsmen; a bachelorette party Aug. 3 at Chili’s hosted by the bride’s mother; and a bridesmaids’ dinner July 27 at Ryan’s hosted by the bride.

The groom’s grandparents held a rehearsal dinner Aug. 4 at Pikeville Community Center.
