BURLINGTON — Kimberly Shenail Dowtin and Thomas Edward Dunn V of Glendale, Ariz., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Larry E. Covington officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Samuel L. and Lizzie E. Dowtin of Burlington and the granddaughter of Mary Dowtin and the late Samuel L. Dowtin of Littleton and Alice Edmonds of New York, N.Y.

She is a graduate of North Carolina Central University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in mathematics and attends Grand Canyon University for a master’s degree in education administration. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is employed as seventh-grade mathematics teacher and 21st Century Grant site coordinator at Tolleson Elementary School District.

The groom is the son of Thomas and Barbara A. Dunn of Goldsboro and the grandson of Thomas and Julia Dunn of Goldsboro, the late Handy Applewhite Sr. of Orange, N.J., and Rose Peacock of Brooklyn, N.Y.

He graduated from Fayetteville State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He is serving in the Army as a recruiter.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a satin strapless princess line wedding gown with net embroidery, crystal and pearl beading and sequins. It had a lace-up bodice back and a semi-cathedral train with a pink sorbet trim.

Latressa Cobb was matron of honor, while LaKysha Dowtin was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Boleratz, Quinesha Dowtin, Jondra Torain and Rabiah Harrison.

Damien Lett was best man.

Groomsmen were Vincent Aguon, Kenneth Dowtin Jerry Moore and Marc Dowtin

Diamond Barbour was the junior bride. Olija’h Dowtin was the junior groom.

JaNiaya Dowtin-Torain and Aaliyah Artis were flower girls. Jabare’ Holmes was ringbearer.

LaWanda Foster Gregory directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sharesa Wilkins. Tanora Dunn distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Devashi Woods, pianist, and Allana Smith, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Occasions Inc. in Burlington.

The couple will take a wedding trip to Hawaii in October. They reside in Glendale.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower June 23.

A rehearsal dinner was held Aug. 17 at Ebenezer United Church.
