WILMORE, Ky. — Melissa Lyn Miller of Nicholasville, Ky., and Major McKinley Upton III of Wilmore exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 28 at 6 p.m. at Asbury Theological Seminary, with the Rev. Paul Fryman officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the Rev. T.R. and Marcia Lyn Miller of Roxboro and the granddaughter of Donald and Jeanie Miller of Albright, W. Va., and Glenn and Mary Bolyard of Palm Bay, Fla.

She attended Spring Creek School. She is a graduate of Faith Christian Academy and a 2004 graduate of Asbury College in Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design/media. She is employed as a contract graphic designer at Kentucky Educational Television and UK HealthCare.

The groom is the son of Major McKinley Upton II of Columbia, Ky., and Leverna Upton of Wilmore and the grandson of Allene Upton and Betty Collier of Nicholasville, Chester Collie and Major McKinley Upton.

He graduated from West Jessamine High School and attends the University of Kentucky for a degree in English/philosophy. He is employed as a landscaper at Asbury College.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory ruched tulle beaded bodice over a full satin ballgown with spaghetti straps, a sweetheart neckline and a semi-cathedral train.

Her headpiece was a rhinestone-trimmed veil.

The bride carried a bouquet of purple hand-tied hydrangea.

Emily Harlan was her friend’s matron of honor, while Jessica Marlar, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Misty Miller, cousin of the bride; Sabrina Hager, cousin of the groom; and Jenny Upton, sister of the groom.

Chet Hager was his cousin’s best man.

Groomsmen were Chad Rhodes, Jason Aukerman and Mike VanAusteen, friends of groom, and T.J. Miller, brother of bride.

Joanna Shutt, friend of bride, was flower girl.

Kari Watts directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Payton Hager, cousin of groom. Nicholas Marlar, friend of bride distributed programs.

Jordan Bolyard and Benjamin Bolyard, cousins of the bride, were handbell ringers.

The Rev. Bill Shutt, friend of the bride’s family, was master of ceremonies.

A program of wedding music was provided by Valerie Bolyard, aunt of bride, pianist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Asbury Seminary’s Stevens-Pike dining room.

After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple reside in Nicholasville.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Asbury Theological Seminary.
