COLUMBIA, S.C. — Anna Rebekah Frantz of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Joseph William Heron exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 22 at 4 p.m. at Rutledge Chapel at the University of South Carolina, with the Rev. John C. Drosendahl officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. John Edward and Karene Whaley Frantz of Pikeville, and the granddaughter of the late John William Frantz of Allentown, Pa., Betty Frantz Wetzel of Coplay, Pa., and the late Zeb Vance and Olive Aycock Whaley of Pikeville and the stepgranddaughter of Bob D. Wetzel of Allentown.

She attended Charles B. Aycock High School and is a 2003 graduate of Ridge View High School of Columbia, S.C. She attends Winthrop University of Rock Hill for a senior graphic design major.

The groom is the son of Jack Werner and Wanda Marivitorri Heron of Columbia and the grandson of the late Jack and Edeltraud Heron and Mary Marivitorri and the late Valeo Marivitorri of Columbia.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business. He is employed as a field artillery officer for the Army.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a full-length peau de soie satin gown. The skirt, neckline and waistline were embellished with satin embroidered motifs and accented with pearls. Three-inch Venice lace trimmed the hem of the skirt and continued up the split back, which revealed the cathedral length tiffany train of satin overlaid with chiffon and embroidered English tulle with Venice lace border. The bodice was sleeveless with a dropped waistline. The sweetheart neckline dropped to a V in the back with satin covered buttons for the enclosure.

Her veil of tulle was outlined with a string of pearls and attached to a circular headpiece of fabric daisies accented with sequins and pearls.

The bride carried a cascading bouquet of one dozen white roses, white gerber daisies and touches of yellow and red daisies and berries.

Elizabeth Dolinger was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Rachael Hipp and Holly Gibbs. Jack W. Heron Jr. served as his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Michael Verenes and Ryan Chesley, friends of the groom.

Olivia Martin and Katie Stone, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. Jack W. Hero, III, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.

Mona Marivitorri, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Mandy Heron, sister-in-law of the groom. Megan Stone and Stone Martin, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Oneida Martin, cousin of the bride, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Inn at the University of South Carolina.

Out-of-town guests were from Pennsylvania, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.

The couple will reside in Tennessee.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower hosted by Mona Marivitorri, Melanie Collins and Cara Yarbrough.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner July 21 at Saluda Shoals Park of Columbia.
