ATLANTIC BEACH — Coley Virginia Waters and Shawn Michael Laws of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. at Fort Macon, with Ron Fletcher officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Edward Earl Waters of Kinston and Rebecca Dee Bright of Kinston and the stepdaughter of Debra Kohler Waters.

She attended North Lenoir High School. She is a graduate of Meredith College with bacholor’s degrees in religion and psychology and attends East Carolina University for a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and a master’s degree in substance abuse and clinical counseling. She is employed with 4-H in Lenoir and Duplin counties with the All Stars program as a prevention specialist and Spiral Bound Farm in Kinston.

The groom is the son of James and Sandra Ann Laws of Durham.

He graduated from East Syracuse-Minoa High School in New York. He is serving in the Air Force as a structural specialist stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and as a captain with Thoroughfare Volunteer Fire Department.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory dress with a halter type front and an open back.

Alva Jeanne Horton was maid of honor.

James Laws served as his son’s best man.

Kendall Mashburn was flower girl. Jordan Laws was ringbearer.

Following the ceremony, family members held a barbecue reception at the Duncan House of Beaufort.

The couple reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included showers hosted by Alva Jeanne Horton, Sandra Laws and Mollie Tisdale and Cathy Grey, Patsi Tart and Rachel Mashburn.
