LUMBERTON — Lisa Carol Jernigan of Lumberton and Ryan McGirt exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 30 at 7 p.m. at Hyde Park Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Harrell and the Rev. Clyde Hunt, uncle of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of J. Reynold and Peggy Jernigan of Goldsboro, the granddaughter of Jessie James Capps, the late Annie Louise Capps, Doris Jernigan and the late Sherrel Jernigan of Goldsboro and the great-granddaughter of Pauline Wiggins of Dudley.

She is a 2000 graduate of Lumberton Senior High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She is employed as a fifth grade teacher at Gilbert Carroll Middle School with Public Schools of Robeson County.

The groom is the son of Mark and Elaine McGirt of Fairmont and the grandson of the late Jack and Carrie Mae Hunt, the late Cleveland McGirt and the late Catherine Karsch and the stepgrandson of Bert Marie McGirt of Fairmont.

He graduated from Fairmont High School in 2000 and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2004 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. He is employed as a high school coach and teacher with Fairmont High School with Public Schools of Robeson County.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents and sister.

She wore a formal white gown of tulle and satin adorned with Alencon lace with a portrait neckline. The fitted bodice was enhanced with an asymmetrical waistline embellished with pearls and sequins. The back bodice closed with pearl buttons accented with a sheer back emphasized with lace. The tulle over satin A-line skirt was beaded at the hem with Alencon lace and pearls and cascaded into a cathedral train.

She wore a rhinestone comb with a two-tiered veil of silk illusion adorned with scattered rhinestone flowers and crystals.

Wendy Leigh Fields of Lumberton served as her sister’s matron of honor, while Emily Johnston of Matthews, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jennifer Gaskins and Courtney Britt of Lumberton, friends of the bride, and Synora Cummings of Albany, N.Y., cousin of the groom.

Bryan McGirt and Marcus McGirt of Fairmont served as their brother’s best men.

Ushers were Jason Cummings of Albany, cousin of the groom, and Daniel Fields of Lumberton, brother-in-law of the bride.

Groomsmen were Jeffery Freeman of Fairmont, friend of the groom, and Eric Ray Jacobs and Matt Hunt of Fairmont, cousins of the groom.

Arianna McGirt of Fairmont, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.

Heather Driggers of Lumberton, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Jessica Gaskins of Lumberton, friend of the couple, and Tammy Oakes of Hookerton, cousin of the bride. Jeff and Loreice Walter of Wake Forest, uncle and aunt of the bride, distributed programs.

Kayla Rogers of Fairmont, friend of the bride, was concierge.

A program of wedding music was provided by Regan Driggers of Lumberton, friend of the couple, pianist; Lana Smith of Statesville, friend of the bride, and Mike Pittman of Lumberton, friend of the couple, vocalists; and Scott Campbell of Fairmont, friend of the couple, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Sandra Davis, Linda Coleman, Michelle Gaskins, Norma Lou Britt, Donna Selph and Pam Locklear, friends of the bride’s family, were coordinators. Pat Taylor and Sally Stevens, aunts of the bride, served the tiered wedding cake. Monica Jones and Amanda Jacobs, aunts of the groom, poured punch.

After a wedding trip to western North Carolina, the couple will reside in Lumberton.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon June 24 at Village Station Restaurant of Lumberton hosted by Sally Stevens, Pat Taylor and Loreice Jernigan, aunts of the bride, and Doris Jernigan, grandmother of the bride, with the bride choosing this time to present gifts to her attendants; a weekend outing and lingerie shower June 16 at the home of the bride’s sister in Ocean Isle with a day trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a miscellaneous shower June 11 in Hyde Park Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by W.I.N.G.S.; a miscellaneous shower June 9 at Mt. Moriah Church of Maxton fellowship hall hosted by fifth-grade teachers of Gilbert Carroll Middle School; a Pampered Chef shower June 3 at McDonald Church of God of Fairmont fellowship hall hosted by Clyde Hunt, uncle of the groom, and the groom’s mother; and a miscellaneous shower May 7 in Love Memorial Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by BYKOTA Sunday school class.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner June 29 in Hyde Park Baptist Church fellowship hall. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.
