ATLANTIC BEACH — Emily Kate Johnson of Goldsboro and Jeremy Lee Peters of Alpena, Mich., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 1 at 7 p.m. at Salter Path Park, with the Rev. Renee Melby officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Grover Henry and Lynn Barwick Johnson of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Edna Barwick Bunn, the late Ben Barwick and the late James Thomas and Lettie Johnson, all of Goldsboro.

She is a 2000 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2005 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.

The groom is the son of Bernard Stanley and Darlene Rose Peters of Posen, Mich., and the grandson of the late Alfred and Elanor Kamyszek and Leo and Theresa Peters of Posen, Mich.

He graduated from Alpena High School in 1999 and the Lewis F. Garland Fire Academy of San Angelo, Texas, in 2001. He served in the Army and Air Force and is a member of the Army National Guard. He is employed as a firefighter.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a light gold A-line gown with a white and pewter lace overlay embroidered with a floral design and beading that cascaded down the gown, ending in a floral trim. The bodice had a V-neckline with a sheer outline and beadwork with a corset lace-up back.

The bride wore two blue irises in her hair.

She carried a clutch bouquet of blue and green hydrangea, blue delphinium, blue irises and white boyvardia wrapped with ivory chiffon ribbon.

Stephanie Langdon Pender of Pikeville served her friend as matron of honor, with Holly Michelle Schmitz of Anchorage, Alaska, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Nathan Tyler Peters of Grayling, Mich., served as his brother’s best man.

Matthew Alexis Johnson of Goldsboro, brother of the bride, was the groomsman.

Hayley Pender of Pikeville, goddaughter of the bride, was the flower girl. Nathaniel Pender of Pikeville, godson of the bride, served as ringbearer.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Posen Community Center.

After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Rosewood.

Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party June 30; a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 29; a miscellaneous shower June 25 at the home of the groom’s grandmother; a miscellaneous bridal shower June 14 hosted by co-workers of the bride; a surprise bridal shower June 10 at the home of the bride’s mother; and a bachelorette party June 3 hosted by Stephanie Pender.

A rehearsal dinner was held June 30 at the Channel Marker of Atlantic Beach.
