LAGRANGE — Diane Holmes Skelton and Carl Jeffrey Seymour pledged their wedding vows Saturday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Chris Singleton officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Wheat Swamp Christian Church.

Parents of the bride are Kenneth and Margie Holmes of LaGrange. She is the granddaughter of Hazel Barnes of Goldsboro, the late Raymond Barnes and the late Joseph and Emma Holmes of LaGrange.

The groom’s parents are Carl and Kaye Seymour of Snow Hill. He is the grandson of the late Chester and Mary Frances Wooten of Castoria and the late Carl and Ellen Seymour of LaGrange.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father and son, the bride wore a formal gown of white matte Italian Satin and schiffli lace fashioned with a portrait neckline and short, illusion sleeves embellished with pearls, sequins and lace. Beaded lace complemented the empire waistline and pearls, sequins and lace adorned the A-line skirt. The back bodice was interwoven with beaded lace and beaded bridal buttons. Pearl and sequin lace motifs added emphasis to the chapel train.

For her headpiece, she chose a silver tiara accented with rhinestones and pearls. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses, lilies, baby’s breath and periwinkle chiffon ribbon streamers.

Cindy Westbrook was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mona Gordon, sister of the groom, and Angela Sutton, friend of the bride.

Carl Seymour was his son’s best man. Christian Gordon, nephew of the groom, was the usher. Groomsmen were Tony Gordon, brother-in-law of the groom, and Donald Holmes, brother of the bride.

Kasey Gordon, niece of the groom, was flower girl.

Judy Moore, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Felicia Shepard, friend of the bride.

Samantha Taylor, friend of the couple, distributed programs. Stormy West-brook, friend of the bride, distributed bird seed.

A program of wedding music was provided by Wesley T. Letchworth Jr., pianist and vocalist, and Paula Letchworth, vocalist.

After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple is residing in Snow Hill.

The bride is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in special education. She is employed as a teacher at Snow Hill Primary School.

The groom graduated from Greene Central High School. He is employed as trucker with the family business, Seymour Trucking.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship building. Gene and Debra Wooten of Nashville, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Misty Mills, cousin of the groom, poured punch. Susie Boyd, friend of the couple, served the wedding cake.

Members of Greene Ridge Country Club held a home, tool and garden shower Dec. 31.

On Dec. 15, coworkers of the bride held a bridal shower.

Judy Moore and Norma Jean Purvis, aunts of the groom, held a bridal luncheon Nov. 25 at Carraway’s Restaurant of Kinston.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Greene Ridge Country Club of Snow Hill.
