FAYETTEVILLE — Jennifer Gail Cole of Goldsboro and Second Lt. Joseph Mark Whipple exchanged promises Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m.

Dr. Ray Ammons officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Parents of the bride are retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. James G. Cole of Hope Mills.

Parents of the groom are retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. Mark Whipple of Tobaccoville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Whipple of Hilton, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Dutch DeWaele of Boynton Beach, Fla.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

Jennifer Pate of Richmond, Va., was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Bittle of Fayetteville, Kellie Beam of Parkton, Amanda Lindsay and Laura Hunter of Durham, Andrea Bickel of Banner Elk and Stephanie Huston of Webster, N.Y.

Stephen Whipple of Tobaccoville was best man. Groomsmen were James G. Cole Jr. of Hope Mills, John Pryor of Boone, Jason Walker of Charlotte, Ethan McLaughlin of St. Louis, Mo., and retired Staff Sgt. Kenneth Whipple of Baltimore, Md.

Morgan Whipple was flower girl.

Anna McLean directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Heidi Daproza. Kellen Pagan distributed programs.

Bethany Venable was the sign language interpreter.

A program of wedding music was provided by Janice Simpson, pianist, Cathy Ammons, Willy Fisher and Susan Cole, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple is residing in Ft. Lewis, Wash.

The bride is a graduate of South View High School of Hope Mills and a cum laude graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in child development. She is employed as a program specialist for child care resource and referral with Wayne County Partnership for Children.

The groom graduated from South View High School and Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems with a minor in English. He is serving in the Army with the engineer corps.

Following the ceremony, an outdoor reception was held at the Woman’s Club of Fayetteville.

On Sept. 20, co-workers of the bride held a shower.

The bridesmaids held a lingerie shower Sept. 11 in Fayetteville.

On Aug. 14, Linda Fisher, aunt of the bride, Laura Fisher, cousin of the bride, and Amanda Lindsay held a bridal shower in Fayetteville.

Janet Huston and Karen Smith, aunts of the groom, held a bridal shower Aug. 7 in Webster.

On July 31, Diane Sullivan held a bridal shower in Alexandria, Va.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall.
