Mrs. Uljua

Jonna Katherine Jernigan of Charlotte and Steven John Uljua of Charlotte said their marriage vows Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and the Rev. Perry Shaw officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Parents of the bride are Hugh John Jernigan of Goldsboro and Donna Mullins of Lake Waccamaw. She is the granddaughter of the late Elma Westbrook Jernigan of Grantham and the late Rev. N. Doner Lucas Sr. and Katherine Louise Lucas of Falcon.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur William Uljua of Holden are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Grace Messier, the late William Uljua and Irene Uljua of Worcester, Mass.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a princess gown of ivory matte satin with a halter neckline and a natural waistline. The bodice was defined with satin pipe edging with Venise lace and pearl. It flowed from a waistline with an inverted pleat accented with matching appliqués of lace and pearl. Satin-covered buttons laid down the back and flowed into the chapel train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara fashioned with enameled floral petals, pearls and rhinestones with a satin rolled-edge veiling. She carried a bouquet of red tulips and roses.

Trista Bolenbaugh of Jacksonville, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stacey Evans and Brittany Fitch of Charlotte and Dawn Barefoot of Greenville, friends of the bride.

Arthur Uljua was best man. Groomsmen were Jim Uljua of South Hero, Vermont, and Dan Uljua of Gloucester, Mass., brothers of the groom, and Jarrod Jernigan of Lake Waccamaw, brother of the bride.

Brooke Lucas of Harrisburg, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.

Blaire Lucas of Harrisburg, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Nicholas Kearney was ring bearer.

Lisa Taylor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Brittany Lucas of Elizabethtown, cousin of the bride. Alexandria Lucas of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Carolyn Castania, pianist and vocalist, and Ed Manns of Charlotte, Marty Sexton of Monroe and Don Lucas of Harrisburg, uncle of the bride, vocalists.

After a wedding cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, the couple is residing in Charlotte.

The bride is a1991 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. She is employed as a return product specialist with Husqvama Forest and Garden.

The groom graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical High School. He is employed as LMS manager with Husqvama Forest and Garden.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church. Hostesses were Lisa Boyette, Janice Massingill, Sheila Talton, Dena Stephenson and Gena Wall.

A rehearsal dinner was held at McCall’s Seafood Restaurant.
