Woodard - Hess
NORFOLK, Va. — Mary Maxene Hess and Roy Michael Woodard Jr. exchanged promises June 26 at 10 a.m.
The Rev. Robert Hess officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Botanical Gardens.
The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Hess of Birmingham, Ala. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Hess and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wright.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Woodard of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Roy Woodard, Jean Snead and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Chesser of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Snowden of Ocala, Fla., and the great-grandson of Mary Snowden.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a dress of white satin.
She chose a headpiece of inlaid silver and pearls accenting a handmade veil. She carried a bouquet of pink and white roses with greenery around the outside edge.
Heather Collins and Brenda Dixon were matrons of honor.
Mike Woodard was best man. Brook Thiebault was the groomsman.
A program of wedding music was provided by a harpist.
After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple is residing in Virginia Beach, Va.
The bride is a graduate of Liberty University School of Business of Virginia. She is employed as co-director of the MacArthur Center.
The groom graduated from Liberty University School of Business. He attends Regent University School of Law of Virginia.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Botanical Garden rose hall.
On May 2, co-workers of the bride held a bridal shower.
Brenda Dixon and Heather Collins held a bridal shower April 25.
On March 12, ladies of Faith Free Will Baptist Church held a bridal shower at the home of Dan and Jessica Clark.
A rehearsal dinner was held at the Airport Hilton banquet hall of Norfolk. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
