Mrs. Barksdale

Kimberly Rene’ Tower of Boone became the bride of Dwayne Thomas Barksdale of Boone July 17 at 6 p.m.

Robert Goff Jr. officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Oak Forest Church of Christ.

Jack A. and Lou E. Tower of Goldsboro are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. McDaniel of Goldsboro.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. James Zwickert of Baltimore, Md. He is the grandson of Marie-Gemma Barksdale of Baltimore.

Given in marriage and escorted by her father, the bride wore a sleeveless white satin A-line floor-length gown with an empire waist with pearls beading to the bodice. It had a chapel train with beading accent to match the bodice.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara accented with pearls and diamonds with a three-quarter-length veil. She carried six long-stemmed red roses.

Heather Gibson of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Susan Stewart of Goldsboro, Mandy Matthews of Boone, Hope Lyons of Bocca Raton, Fla., and Brooke Rodenhizer of Durham, friends of the bride.

Mike Goddard of Baltimore was his brother-in-law’s best man. Ushers were Timothy Tower of Boone, brother of the bride; Chris Clodfelter of Boone, friend of the couple; and Mike Goddard of Baltimore, brother-in-law of the groom.

Auslyn Ruffin of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

Gladys Hull directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Dannie Gardner, aunt of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Atlantic Beach, the couple will reside in Boone. They will take another wedding trip to France in the fall.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2003 graduate of Appalachian State University with double major in finance, banking, insurance and risk management. She attended Wayne Community College. She is employed with Jackson, Sumner and Associates of Boone.

The groom graduated from Palmdale High School of California. He is employed as a mechanic with Kelly Brothers of Boone and as a drummer with Dark Halo.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Marie Cribbs and Tracey Wilson were directors.

A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held July 16 at the home of Marie Cribbs.

On July 15, a bachelorette party was held in Raleigh.

Ladies of Oak Forest Church held a shower June 4.

Jackson Sumner and Associates held a post-wedding shower.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse.
