ROANOKE ISLAND — Amanda Ruth Best of Goldsboro and Robert Willard Hinnant Jr. pledged their promises June 12 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Bob Crisp officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the Elizabethan Gardens.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Glenn Kirby Sr. of Pikeville and Max Rudolph Best of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Maxwell Herring Sr. of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kimber Nicholas Best of LaGrange.

Dr. and Mrs. Robert Willard Hinnant Sr. of Goldsboro are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Fred Hinnant of Pine Level, the late Mr. and Mrs. Walton Marvin Daugherty of Kinston and Hope Hood Morton of Goldsboro.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal matte satin gown of ivory and cafe with a scoop neckline. The fitted sleeveless bodice was embroidered with pearls and sequins and ended in a Basque waistline. The back bodice had crisscross straps adorned with beads. The full skirt was enhanced with embroidery in a floral pattern accented with pearls and sequins and cascaded into a cathedral train.

For her headpiece, she chose a tiara of rhinestones with a cathedral veil of silk illusion with a ribbon edge. She carried a bouquet of hand-tied white calla lilies, white snapdragons and Veronica accented with Italian ruscus and chiffon ribbons.

Claudia Best Carreno was matron of honor.

Dr. Robert Willard Hinnant Sr. was best man. Joseph Franklin Tillman was the usher. Dr. Keith Frederick Hinnant was the groomsman.

Deborah Taylor Tillman directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Andrea Hardison. Presiding at the garden gates was Kenneth Maxwell Herring III of Raleigh. Corey Root distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Roy Murray of Nags Head, flutist and trumpeter, and Stacey Walters of Nags Head, violinist.

The couple will reside in Goldsboro.

The bride was employed as a real estate property manager in Raleigh. She is employed as vice president of sales and marketing with Hinnant Family Vineyards and Winery.

The groom was owner of Hinnant Crown and Bridge Inc. He is co-owner of Hinnant Family Vineyards and Winery of Pine Level.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the village of Nags Head Golf Links Clubhouse.

On June 11, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Pequin Isle of Nags Head.

Gloria Keesee, Jewel Ivey, Elaine Herring and Wanda Herring, aunts of the bride, held a bridal shower June 5 at Walnut Creek Country Club.

On May 23, friends of the couple held a party at the home of Andrea and Sara Heekin.

Friends of the bride held a bridal shower May 14 at the home of Deborah Taylor Tillman.
