CHAPEL HILL — Jessica Marie Dubberly of Chapel Hill and John Christopher Hoffman of Chapel Hill were united in holy matrimony June 12 at 7 p.m.

Father Phillip Leach officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Gerrard Hall of the University of North Carolina campus.

Mary Brickhouse Dubberly of Fremont and Clinton David Dubberly of Zuni, Va., are parents of the bride. She is the stepdaughter of Debra Dubberly of Zuni and the granddaughter of Joseph and Marie Brickhouse of Goldsboro, Dub Dubberly of Fremont and the late LaMonte Dubberly of Fremont.

Virgil Alexander and Janice Deal Hoffman of Conover are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Mary Milholland of Conover.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless candlelight A-line gown with a beaded overlay and a scalloped body and hem. It had a chapel-length train.

For her headpiece, she chose an elbow-length veil studded with pearls. She carried green hydrangeas, blue delphinium and pink roses.

Elle Dubberly of Fremont was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Boyette and Robin Miura of Durham, Carrie Mills of Chapel Hill, Cori Bunn of Alexandria, Va., Joy Cherry of Greenville, Sara Cottingham of Greensboro and Kathryn Hoffman of Wilmington.

Virgil Hoffman was best man. Groomsmen were Alex Fulbright of Newton, Josh Todd of Hickory, Jay Powell of Mebane, Todd Shields of Durham, Nick Dubberly of Fremont, Adam Kendall of Greensboro and Rob Brown of Asheboro.

Lauren Dubberly was flower girl. Isaac Norris was ring bearer.

Linda Ellis directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register were Sara Cartee and Beth Hoffman. Stephanie Ballance and Kim Scott distributed programs.

Dave Abernathy and Rob Stevenson, cousins of the bride, were parking attendants.

A program of wedding music was provided by Brandon Jones and Elle Dubberly, vocalists.

After a wedding trip to Australia, the couple will reside in Chapel Hill. They will move to Hickory.

The bride is a 1995 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a PhD. in psychology. She is employed as a research assistant with the university.

The groom graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1994 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998 with a bachelor of science degree in biology. He is employed as a commercial plumber with Tri City Mechanical.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the grand ballroom of Carolina Inn of Chapel Hill. A four-tiered wedding cake with white fondant and Swiss dot with hydrangea flowers was served.

On June 13, the bride’s father and stepmother held a farewell breakfast.

Aunts of the bride held a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 12 in Chapel Hill.

On May 27, co-workers of the bride held a shower in Chapel Hill.

The groom’s parents held a barbecue May 22 in Hickory.

On May 16, the bride’s stepgrandmother held a luncheon in Franklin, Va.

Aunts of the bride held a shower May 15.

On April 3, the bridesmaids held a shower in Durham.

Classmates of the bride held an engagement celebration Aug. 23.

A barbecue rehearsal dinner was held at Snipes Farm of Chapel Hill.
