Gena Brooke Lassiter became the bride of Jody M. O’Neal of Wilson April 3 at 11:30 a.m.

Billy Rose officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Parents of the bride are John and Linda Lassiter of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Thurman and Annie Bell Allen, James and Bertha Lassiter and Gene Lynch.

Parents of the groom are Joel and Judy O’Neal of Fremont. He is the grandson of Nathan and Emily Newsome and Madero and Helen O’Neal.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a candlelight ivory gown with a beaded bodice and spaghetti straps. It featured a straight skirt with beads and crystals accenting the informal train.

For her headpiece, she chose a comb with beads and crystals. She carried a nosegay of lavender hydrangea and blush roses tied with ivory ribbon accented with pearls.

Ushers were Dean and Marc Lassiter, brothers of the bride, and Dan Flores, brother-in-law of the groom.

Haley Lassiter, Sadie Lassiter, Kristina Flores, Frankie Lassiter and Sarah Lassiter, nieces of the couple, were flower girls. Ryan Flores, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Jean Thorne, aunt of the bride, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Dawn Lassiter, sister-in-law of the bride. Melissa Flores, sister of the groom, distributed programs.

After a wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Wilson.

The bride is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and Johnston Community College with an associate degree in graphic design and advertising design. She attended East Carolina University. She is employed as a medical office assistant with Eastern Carolina Surgical Associates.

The groom graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School and Barton College with a bachelor of science degree. He is employed as a teacher and baseball coach with Beddingfield High School.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church fellowship hall. Special helpers were Joan Daly, Sherry Bryson and Paula Jones. Patsy Mozingo, friend of the bride’s family, cut the wedding cake. Laura Newsome, cousin of the groom, poured punch.

On April 2, a rehearsal dinner was held.

The groom’s parents held a celebration dinner March 20 at Fremont United Methodist Church.

On Feb. 23, the bride’s mother’s women’s ministry circle held a surprise bridal shower.
