Mrs. Bruce

CARY - Julie Ann Cox and Steven Wayne Bruce were wed Saturday, April 3 at 4 p.m.

The Rev. Brian Frost officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Peace Presbyterian Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Cox of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cox of Goldsboro, Laura Sissom of St. Louis, Mo., and the late Douglas Sissom.

The groom is the son of Rebecca Bruce of Bahama and the late Jerry Bruce. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce and the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tyree.

Jennifer Rall, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Stacie Norris, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Angel Harper, friend of the bride, and Angela Centra, college friend of the bride.

David Bruce was his son’s best man. Ushers were Sam Jones, friend of the bride, and Mike Pickett, friend of the groom.

Mia Bruce, niece of the groom, was the junior bride. Dawson Jones, friend of the family, was the junior groom.

Sue Hill and Pat Farr directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register was Denise Fines, friend of the bride. Mika Bruce, sister-in-law of the groom, and Gwen Hester, college friend of the bride, distributed programs.

Kerri Battistoni, college friend of the bride, was the reader. Special helpers were Beverly Westbrook and Paulette Tart.

A program of wedding music was provided by Patty Hart, pianist, and John Hardin, vocalist and guitarist.

After a wedding cruise to the eastern Caribbean, the couple will reside in Raleigh.

The bride is a 1993 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 1997 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College. She is employed as a resource coordinator with Omni Visions Inc.

The groom graduated from Northern High School of Durham in 1988 and Durham Technical College with an associate degree in opticianry. He attended East Carolina University. He is employed as an optician with Lenscrafters.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Gregory’s of Cary.

On March 7, the bridesmaids and family held a home and garden couple’s shower in Raleigh.

Karen Hopfer, Linda Poole and Angela Odom held a shower March 6 in Bahama.

On Feb. 29, Falling Creek United Methodist Church members and neighbors held a shower.

Judy and Scarlette Goode and Heather Spradling held a bridal luncheon Feb. 28 at Good Times of Smithville.
