Win the game against the opponent.
Win the game within yourself.
Rosewood accomplished both goals in dominating fashion Friday evening.
The Eagles' defense posted its second straight shutout and stretched its streak to 16 quarters without giving up a rushing touchdown during a 51-0 shellacking of Pender at Branch Pope Field.
"We preach that we must continue to strive to be a better team the next game," RHS head coach Robert Britt said. "I felt like we got better this week and the next challenge is to be better next week."
Avante George and Michael Reid did the offensive damage for the Eagles. George rambled for 108 yards and two scores on 12 carries. Reid toted the mail on seven occasions for 91 yards and three TDs.
Dhimani Fenty, ranked among the area's top 10 rushers, provided 65 yards on seven carries. Amrei Atwell contributed 60 yards.
Will Harris completed 3 of 4 passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns -- one each to Reid and Davien Thompson. The first-year quarterback has thrown five TD passes in his past two outings.
Rosewood (3-1 overall) is the guest of Eastern Carolina 2-A member South Lenoir on Friday.
