PREP VOLLEYBALL: Reigning Carolina champ Lakewood beats North Duplin

CALYPSO -- Two-time defending Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season champion Lakewood turned back North Duplin 25-17, 25-17, 25-13 on Thursday evening.
Cassy King handed out eight assists for the Rebels, who dipped to 4-2 overall and 0-2 against league opposition this season.
Starr Jaco, Callie Thornton, Hannah Martin and Breanna Hinnant each registered five digs defensively. Logan Jones had four, followed by King with three.
Thornton, Martin and Gretta Lee pounded out three kills apiece.
Jamilyn Wallace and Thornton combined for seven blocks.
