She's just a seventh-grader, but Wayne Country Day's Karsyn Roberts is playing like a seasoned veteran on the golf links.

Roberts earned medalist honors for the fourth time in four tries after she carded a nine-hole round of 40 at Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course on Thursday afternoon.

"She's great ... understands how to make smart shots as well as get out of tricky situations," WCDS head coach David Flowers said. "[Karsyn is] one of the hardest workers out there. [She's] constantly fine-tuning her game."

Ashton Gupton and Kelly Lewis posted scores of 42 and 44, respectively, which gave Wayne Country Day the lowest three-player team score of 126.

Wayne Christian shot a 155, which included a team-low 51 from Caroline Jones. Teammates Annalise Fitzmorris and Bri Verme each registered a 52. Jeysha Baez also participated for the Eagles.

Lexi Lewis shot a 50 and helped Rosewood take third at 174. Brianna Sutton and Cassidy Morris each fired a 62.

Goldsboro placed fourth on the strength of identical 60s from Rebecca Lanier and Giovanni Nelson. Erin Barnett provided a 63 to round out the Cougars' team total of 63. Mary Archibald collected a 64.

Charles B. Aycock's tandem of Savannah Strickland and Taylor Smith concluded the day with a 45 and 61, respectively.
