Jala Holloman scored 27 points and dished five assists as Wayne Country Day slid past Spring Creek in opening-round play of the Eastern Wayne Varsity Girls' Christmas Tournament on Thursday.
Lexi Jeffreys complemented the star guard's effort nicely, finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds. Whitney Hoskins added nine points.
"This was a very well played team game," said WCDS head coach David Flowers. "The girls executed the game plan to perfection... I was super-proud of how we played. Whitney really stepped up." Now 10-2 on the season, WCDS will face Eastern Wayne tonight for the tournament title.
