FOUR OAKS -- Led by Abby Sauls and Leah Campbell, the Charles B. Aycock girls' golf team made light work of qualifying on Tuesday for the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A Golf Championship.
The event, hosted by Reedy Creek Golf Course, tested the skill of 10 area teams and a full-field of 58 players.
Sauls paced CBA's second-place effort with a round of 91, followed by classmate Campbell, who fired a 97.
Savannah Strickland rounded out the Aycock leaderboard by posting a 99.
Next week, the Lady Blues travel to Foxfire Golf & Resort near famed Pinehurst to compete in the 36-hole state tourney, held at 5,645-yard, par-72 Red Fox layout.
Southern Wayne's Cathryn Jones also made the regional trip, just missing the qualifying number for individual players by two shots.
