ECBL: WCDS opens season with win over Goldsboro

Wayne Country Day launched its 2017 Eastern Carolina Baseball League campaign with a 10-4 victory over Goldsboro on Tuesday evening.
Tanner Willman (two RBI), Avery Browning (RBI) and Jaxon Anderson (two RBI) cranked out two hits apiece for WCDS. Caleb Brewer and Jack Talton each batted 1-for-2.
Will White drove in a run.
Ryan Smith, Talton and Willman combined for a seven hitter. Talton retired five Goldsboro batters on strikeouts during his three-inning stint on the cliff.
Brody Morton paced Goldsboro's offense with two hits. Chandler Patrick went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
The teams combined to leave 17 runners on base.
Wayne Country Day (1-0 overall) travels to Fike for a doubleheader today. First pitch is 5 p.m.
